I loved this image as it reminded me of a conversation I had with one of my friends, he said to me “I can never to seem to get ahead, it seems like everything that can go wrong does and I am always back at square one.”There were a couple of things about this conversation which came to mind, I tried to explain to him, he needed to change his mindset, the very thing he said to me in the above sentence was presuming failure before he even started, he had already written himself off. I tried to explain to him that he needed to try and think more positively, ‘I am going to try my best to achieve this” rather than “What is the use, it is just going to go wrong anyway”, It’s the old “you reap what you sow’, The energy you put out, is what you receive back, if you put out negativity you will be presented with negative people and situations to justify the way you feel and they will mirror the energy you are creating around yourself, if you do not change your thought process, you will not break out of that way of thinking and the cycle of “Victim Mentality”
I also thought about the fact that he was overwhelming himself with all the tasks he had to complete to get where he wanted and needed to be. I tried to explain to him instead of thinking about of “ALL” the things you need to do, try to think incrementally, today I will achieve this, tomorrow I will achieve that, setting small achievable tasks and goals in small steps, will help you build towards a long term plan without dwelling too much on the big picture, and over time these little steps will take you to your destination. Sometimes we get stuck in a rut of thinking too far ahead, that we overthink the future and then procrastinate because it seems too hard. One of my favourite quotes is “Every Journey Begins with one step” food for thought!
